    ILO-3: Critical Thinking – Assessed 2012-13

The rubric that was used to assess Critical Thinking for all NDNU undergraduates was developed from the AAC&U VALUE Rubric for Critical Thinking by the Assessment Council (AC) and the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (see Critical Thinking Rubric ). Five aspects of competencies were evaluated to assess Critical Thinking skills for undergraduates. These included Explanation of Issues, Evidence, Influence and Context, Student’s Position and Conclusions. The Rubric allowed a maximum score of 25 and a minimum score of 5 as each of the categories could be graded between 1 through 5 points. Data was collected using the pre/post evaluative method for undergraduate ILOs for all 6 competencies and Institutional Research and AC analyzed this data.
